What the heck is a Thunder Chicken? Thunder Chicken is a clever nickname for a wild turkey. Worshipped by sportsmen all over, the "Thunder Chicken", was very close to becoming the national bird of the United States. Ben Franklin was once quoted: “ I wish the bald eagle had not been chosen as the representative of our country; he is a bird of bad immoral character: like those among men who live by sharping and robbing, he is generally poor, and often very lousy. The turkey is a much more respectable bird, and withal a true original native of America. " Ben Franklin was also a brewer, and like many men of that time period (I imagine) he enjoyed a nice pint of ale with his buddies after a long day of planning independnce from a tyranical King. Thunder Chicken beers are created with this in mind. We will exercise our freedom to create beers that are not of the mainstream, for those who are without mainstream tastes. No snobbery here, just pure appreciation for something fine. Freedom, after all, is a wonderful thing .... |
